The day we have all been waiting for…well not really…what does it mean anyway?  In olden days the day was celebrated by leaving baskets filled with flowers and treats at someone’s doorstep, then the giver was required to run away.  The receiver was supposed to chase the person down and plant him or her with a kiss.  Sounds strangely violent to me…but whatever.  These days kisses and flowers go by the wayside, to let’s be honest more pressing matters like social injustice, labor laws and immigration reform.

San Diego celebrates with a parade that is expected to draw hundreds of participants.  So bring your flowers and tackle someone with a kiss to get into the mood of May Day!
