San Marcos is supposedly quickly becoming the new hotspot for North County as more and more people make the move East. Already the area is booming with restaurants, shopping centers, schools and parks and in his first State of the City Address Mayor Jim Desmond assured residents that he wants to see San Marcos grow even more. He was quoted in the North County Times as saying, “San Marcos is going to become the destination in North County…for education, living, shopping, dining and recreation.” There is no doubt that San Marcos has added a bit of flavor to North County in the minds of many residents who have elected to make the move there. However, is it a bit ridiculous to call it a destination? Of course if your idea of bustling hotspot is suburbia central, than San Marcos might just be the place for you. If not, I would keep hold of those tickets for New York City.
