For one Los Angeles resident, it was apparent that he would rather be taken into custody for evading officers during a high speed chase down Interstate 5, rather than have to pay a penalty for crossing over the double yellow lines into the carpool lane.  Both the 22 year-old driver and his 17 year-old passenger were taken into custody after they rear-ended another vehicle and hit the center divider ending their ridiculous, long get-away attempt, apparently in the direction of Mexico.  I’m wondering at what point the driver thought he could actually loose the cops, being that there are not to many places to hide on the stretch that is the massive freeway.  For the record, he was driving a 1996 BMW 3251 and going between 90 and 120 miles per hour.  I’m sure this bit of information comes as good news to BMW owners who want to make sure they can still go fast after 12 years of use.
