What’s So Super About Tuesday?
Election fever is hitting San Diego County and while the outdoor climate remains chilly, temperatures are running high among impassioned voters. This week saw the endorsement of John McCain by Rudy Giuliani and by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the dropout of the race by John Edwards and two very different debates involving the Republican candidates and the Democratic hopefuls. As Super Tuesday quickly approaches many neighbors find themselves on different sides of the fence when it comes to choosing the best person for the job of president of the United States.
Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton are both showing up in San Diego to push for support, with people expected to line up well in advance to get a glimpse of the destination White House hopefuls. All this fervor arrives after the recent Republican debate where one of the sole arguments revolved around the word “timetable.” No not simply a mathematical equation, but rather a “buzzword” as McCain said used to imply Iraq troop withdrawal, which he adamantly accused Romney of supporting. In most the cases the bloodthirsty media, usually exaggerates every single debate to make it appear like an all out Ultimate Fighting Championship, in the Republican debate they were pretty much spot on. The media though, were without ammunition from the Democratic debate where it almost seemed as if Clinton and Obama might just settle for a cup of tea and call it night. Honestly it was refreshing to witness the two contenders carry on an intelligent and engaging debate, where childlike tantrums were completely left out. Let’s hope that the Republicans can follow suit. Then the only debate would be: Earl Grey or Chamomile.
